Buying a Ticket at Lunch

“Just write about how much you get to sleep,” said my cousin and mom friend, Rachel D., when I told her I started writing a blog so that my friends who are moms can vicariously live through my adventures and freedom. While I would hate to bore you with all the details of how I only lose sleep if I stay up too late watching another Brene Brown (this lady is gonna change to world)  interview, or when I wake up early to try a summit a mountain, but can sleep in the next day so it doesn’t really matter all that much, I get the point. Not all of these posts have to include near death experiences. So I present to you: “Buying a Ticket at Lunch”.

Aaron and Sarah are my cousins, who may as well be my brother and sister. They would come and stay with us for about 2 months every summer. Some of my best childhood memories include these two, my own siblings and the cornfield in our backyard.  We all knew as we grew up it would be harder and harder to see each other. It was going on a year since I had seen Aaron and probably 4 plus years since I had seen Sarah. When Aaron told me they were both going to be in San Diego and my sister said she was going to join, ashamedly my first response was, “I don’t think I can take the time off work.”

Yeah, I know what you’re thinking, “Megan, this is not letting me vicariously do anything!”

San Diego pro-tip: go to Baked Bear, you won’t regret it. I also have a cousins (with a one year old, pictured) and some aunts and uncle who live in San Diego.

Don’t worry, eventually I got my poop in a group. One day over lunch, at work, I just thought about it again and was like, “hmm… yeah, I should probably go.” And then I bought the ticket.

We had a great time catching up and even went on a few adventures! I love these guys!
