Sorry moms, no one is going to be rad.

So turns out, when you try to go a relive you high school glory days of playing basketball, in the moms bracket (recreational, 30s+ womens bracket => moms bracket) at the largest 3-on-3 basketball tournament in the world, you are at risk for tearing your achilles tendon. Who knew!? Although, after watching the first 14 seconds of this video it all made sense to me.

Being strong and able (reference the video from above) I thought it would be a great idea to go and hangout with one of my childhood best friends, Carly, and go to the famous Hoopfest she told me about long before I ever moved out here. Day 1 was a blast! I finally got to meet Mae, whom Carly had told me so much about, and said I would love (and I did). Elise, Mae’s friend, rounded out our team. Mae and Elise were also playing on a co-ed team, so they were running back and forth between games all day (I have no idea how they were able to do it).

Day 2 was great as well… until I decided to run in a straight line. On the first step of a cut down to the hoop, I felt like someone had stepped on my heel. I turned around an no one was there, and that’s about the time I decided I should stop running and fell to the ground. Thankfully, being in at the largest 3-on-3 tournament in the world, they had tents for situations such as these. They got me all bandaged up and told me there was a long road to recovery ahead.

I tried to get as much of my white thigh out of the picture as possible.

On the plus side, I got to talk to a mom which produced one of the best statements of the weekend. Probably important to know there was a team (of not moms) called Fireball, and their shirts said Fireball… made be do it.

After we lost to Fireball, we took shots with them. I haven’t taken shots in 5 year. I think we should have gotten extra points for how many kids we had.  ~ a mom

So, unfortunately for the next 6 months, I will not be able to be going on rad adventures all of the time… but maybe you’ll actually get around to writing about some of the older ones! There’s only about 19 blog titles I have written down.
